Tanokrom Branch of Garages Association Inspects New Site At Mampong

Some aggrieved members of the Tanokrom Branch of the Western Regional Association of Garages have today gathered at a portion of land given to them by the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) at Mampong, a suburb of Takoradi to clear the Land.

Speaking to Spice News, Chairman of the group, Mr Luke Mensah said it was high time they took what was rightfully theirs especially, now that the land has been occupied by unknown people to prevent them from further takeover.

According to him, the reason why they have not relocated to the land for the past seven years was due to the fact that there was no legal documents backing their ownership.

“Since that has not been done, we want to avoid being called ‘squatters’ like where we were ejected from hence, our decision not to occupy the allocated land”, he emphasized.

He announced that the case has been sent to Court to seek redress and for that matter the members will be visiting and clearing the land till the Court rules out its final verdict.

He alleged that the acting Regional Chairman of the Association, Mr Kwabena Kwadze was selling the land to individuals without their notice contrary to the earlier arrangement made with them.

Mr Osei Appiah, Organiser of the Tanokrom Branch stated explicitly that the land belongs to the Tanokrom Branch and will therefore not hesitate to sack any encroachers and also take ownership of the various properties of individuals on the land.

Mr Eric Addison, a welder and member of the Association made an appeal to the Regional Minister, Mr Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah and the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area Mr Joseph Cudjoe to intervene on their behalf for the betterment and growth of the members and the Region as a whole.
