GHANA WATER COMPANY SHARES WATER RATIONING SCHEDULE
Management of Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) in the Western Region has hinted that as a result of the onset of the dry season and its effects on water production and distribution, it has become necessary to ration water in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis until the raw water supply situation improves.
Against this background, it has provided customers with a rationing schedule which is as follows:
The following areas will receive water supply on Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays:
Effiakuma, Effia, Effiakuma Zongo, Bankyease, Sawmill, Lagos Town, Airport Ridge, Kwesimintsim, Dupaul, Apowa, Assakae, Apremdo, New Amanful, Funko, Adwoa, Kajebril, and East and West Tanokrom.
On Wednesdays also, the following areas will be supplied with water: Anaji, West Line, West Anaji Residential Area.
However, only Wednesday has been allotted to these communities because they are connected to the pumping mains which pass through that area and therefore get water when the other communities are being served.
On Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, the communities that will be served with water are Beach Road, Chapel Hill, Dixcove Hill, Esikafuo Ambantem (1, 2 & 3), Kintampo Road, Cape Coast Road and Port Quarters.
The rest are Accra Road, Amonoo Road, Bekwai Road, New Takoradi, John Sabbah Road, Tower Reservoir, Sekondi Road, Nkontompo, Poly Area, CDH, New Site, Harbour Area, Windy Ridge, Kokompe, Air Force and Adakope.
Nana Yaw Barima Barnie, Western Regional Communications Manager who shared this in an interview when Spice News visited his office said plans were currently underway to dredge its intake points at Daboase and Bosomase to increase the quantity of raw water that is able to be used for treatment.
