Amenfi Chiefs call for the creation of Amenfi North District

The Chiefs and people of Agona Amenfi in the Amenfi Central Municipality of the Western Region have appealed to the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama to create the Amenfi North District of the Amenfi Central District for them when given the mandate as president in the December 7, general elections.

They noted that the Amenfi Central Municipal was too big in size which makes it difficult to carry developmental projects across the District, especially from the District Capital and for that matter hampers administrative processes and growth of the District.

Nana Kwaku Amoah I, Divisional Chief of Agona Amenfi who made the appeal to the Flagbearer said the new District when created should be named Amenfi North District.

The Chief also appealed to the former President to make Agona Amenfi the capital of the new district when created.

Nana Kwaku Amoah I made the appeal when welcoming former President Mahama to his Divisional Area as part of his five days campaign tour of the Western Region.

According to the Chief, the geographical position of Agona Amenfi  makes it the best option for the capital to be situated there.

He bemoaned the bad nature of the road network in the District, especially the one that connects the Amenfi West to the District and called on Mr Mahama to consider upgrading them when voted into office.

He further bemoaned the various abandoned projects initiated under the erstwhile NDC administration, especially in the area of road and appealed to Mr Mahama to as a matter of urgency complete them when he assume office.

Nana Kwaku Amoah 1, recounted the good relationship between the people of Amenfi Central and the NDC party and assured the former President of their forever gratitude to the NDC party.
