COVID-19:REPUBLIC BANK DONATES TO EFFIANKWANTA REGIONAL HOSPITAL

The Sekondi Takoradi branch of Republic bank a day before donated items worth 10,000gh to the Effiankwanta Regional Hospital to complement effort towards the fight against COVID-19.

The gesture forms part of the company’s grand program called “Making A Difference” which seeks to improve the well being of clients and the general public.

Among some of the items that were handed over to the hospital administration included nose mask, thermometer guns, dust bins, veronica buckets, tissues, toilets rolls and hand sanitizers.

The group led by the zonal manager Akwasi Peprah- Odoom  in an exclusive interview with Spice Fm said that the gesture is in  fulfillment with   Republic bank’s global agenda to support the fight against the pandemic as part of its cooperate social responsibilities. This has made it possible for 2 million dollars to be set aside to achieve such a purpose in these trying times.

“Our global company set aside 2 million dollars to fight the pandemic. In Ghana we set aside 1.1 million dollars to also fight the pandemic through our various branches across the country. This donation today is contribution by the company and its staff. What makes our donation exceptional is that we contacted the hospital to verify their actual needs before setting out to patronize the products. We don’t want to put a price tag on our donation for people to dwell on it but I can say it cost us at least gh10, 000”

Similar  donations have  been made  at other branches in the country including in the region Sefwi bakwai,and Sefwi yowso. Cape Coast, Swedru, and Koforidua are expected to recieve their share in the coming days uptill when all branches in the country will have their share .

Touching on long queues emerging at the various banks as a result of the practice of social distancing, he advised clients to bare with the bank and also try and make use of available ATMS and other online services to perform transactions since the safety of the staff and the general public is key.

Receiving the items on behalf of EffiaNkwanta Region the Hospital,Head of Administration, Mr Micheal Danso, shared his gratitude to the bank for such a kind gesture and applauded republic bank for reaching out to first find out about the need of the hospital before stepping out to purchase the items.

“He added the donation will go a long way to helping the hospital fight against the COVID-19”
