Members of the Ghana Nurses Midwifery Association have described the Heal Module Ghana under the President’s Nation Builders Corps program (NABCO) as unconstitutional, urging members to desist from enrolling on the programme

President Akufo-Addo on May 1, 2018, launched the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO), a programme structured to tackle graduate unemployment in Ghana.
The programme has been designed under seven modules. Trained nurses and midwives, as well as health workers, fall under the heal Ghana module where nurses and health workers who have been sitting home without jobs after school will be employed.
In an interview with Takoradi based Spice 91.9 FMThursday, President of the Ghana Nurses and Midwifery Association, Batias Semi-Ulah Santi, mentioned that Article 21 Clause 9 of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana gives workers the right to work under same and healthy conditions and to be paid equal monies for equal jobs done.
According to him, although the association lauds government for the introduction of NACOB, it will be unfair for Health workers with the same qualification as regular staff of the Ministry of health to receive 700 cedis per month.
“The health sector is a delicate sector where workers are required to work with happiness since we deal with human lives. With this whole initiative, we have realized that health workers who will be enrolled in NABCO will not perform their duties as expected due to these irregularities,” he explained.
He called on the government to reconsider providing health workers with permanent jobs.
