American Mark Noonan to be appointed as Accra Hearts of Oak MD
Accra Hearts of Oak’s bankroller, Togbe Afede is set to appoint erstwhile Global Chief Commercial Officer for the World Surf League, Mark Noonan as the club’s new Managing Director according to multiple reports.
Sources close to the club have disclosed that the American is expected to start work next week after his unveiling as the new Accra Hearts of Oak Managing Director with talks between the two sides far advanced.
Noonan when confirmed will be coming into the club with a vast knowledge in the sport and it’s management haven featured in the Major Soccer League despite having his career truncated due to injury. Noonan has explored the marketing field with his experience working under MLS Commissioner, Don Garber, as well as working with clients such as New York Metz, Federation of International Basketball Association and Real Salt Lake among others.
The man described as a top level sports administrator has for a time served as Global Chief Commercial Officer for the World Surf League helping the league with a partnership with TAG Heuer, Jeep, Visa, Airbnb including other top level organisations.
Noonan’s inventiveness has led to a bumper beacon of USD 20m sponsorship deal from Citigroup for the Major Soccer League side, Metz.
He assumes the vacant Managing Director post, formerly held by Gerard Ankrah – the post has been vacant since March 2017.
