Black Queens head to semis with 4:1 win over Burkina Faso

Black Queens earn a 4:1 win against Burkina Faso to snatch WAFU Women’s Cup of Nations
Ghana’s Female Senior National team have booked their place in the semi-finals of the ongoing WAFU Women’s Cup after walloping Burkina Faso 4-1 in Group A final game on Sunday.
Stand-in coach Mercy Tagoe and her ladies needed a win at a cost against the Burkinabes to aid their progression to the semi-finals of the competition and it came as the right result after 90 minutes.
Black Queens took a two-goal lead in the first half through skipper Portia Boakye and midfielder Grace Asantewaa.

After the break, Priscilla Okyere scored the third goal before Burkinabe then pushed forward and they reduced the deficit to 3:1.




However, Portia Boakye who replaced absent Elizabeth Addo is the skipper then grabbed her brace to restore Ghana’s three-goal advantage – Portia’s fourth goal of the tournament.
Black Queens will now meet Group B winners in the semifinals. Group B final round of matches will be honored today.
