W/R: REGIONAL TOURISM AUTHORITY SUPRISED AFFIA NKWANTA HOSPITAL CHILDREN’S WARD WITH CHOCOLATES ON VALENTINE’S DAY

The national Tourism Authority in collaboration with COCOBOD and Cocoa Processing Company joined hands to celebrate the Valentine’s Day at the Children’s Ward at the Effia NKwanta Regional Hospital.

The event was part of a nationwide celebration under the auspices of Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture to promote the consumption of made- in – Ghana Chocolates as a healthy product, whiles expressing love and kindness to others.

George Nkrumah Ansere, Head of Regional Tourism Authority explained why children and nursing mothers were the focus group for this year’s edition of Valentine’s Day

‘‘The children and nursing mothers are the vulnerable and most of the times society forget about them especially in the brisk of business or in our quest to make a living, we turn to forget about the very things that make the difference. For example when a child falls sick it is significant for the mother to sit around till the child gets well, these and many other efforts turn to be forgotten, so we came around to show love to the children and appreciate the mother.

Since 2017  the nation has decided to localize the celebration of valentine’s day by making it a chocolate day in other to use it as an avenue to create opportunity in the  Cocoa industry and support livehood. Cocoa also represents symbol of love so on an occasion like this we decided to come to Effia Kwanta Regional hospital to show love to the children and the nursing mothers”

He urged the citizenry to continue showing love to mothers and the vulnerable in society as well as recognize the efforts and contributions of mothers towards the upbringing of children.
