On Thursday, September 12, 2019, the Western Regional Police Command with support from other security agencies arrested 217 suspected criminals within the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis.
This follows an operation which the Police had conducted.
Deputy Western Regional police Commander ACP Edmund Ohene Bosompem said a total of 400 security personnel were used in the operation at Sekondi European town and at Albert Bosomtwe Sam fishing harbour.
He stated during media breifing that the operation started around 4:00 am on Thursday. He also mentioned that the operation was supported by an air force helicopter, a naval ship, two naval boats and one marine police boat.
The commander Bosompem added that the various reports of kidnapping, robberies, murder and drug related offences led to the operation.
The suspects are made up of 194 males and 19 females. Several items such as dried leaves suspected to be Indiam hemp, toffees laced with drugs and Tramadol were retrieved from the suspects.
An amount of Ghc23,997.05 was also found on the suspects. The suspected criminals who will be found guilty will be prosecuted. ACP Bosompem state.
