Bawumia reports an increase in revenue for ECG and Passport Office due to the digitization agenda

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia highlighted the positive impact of the government’s digitization agenda on the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and the passport office.

He revealed that ECG’s annual revenue surged from 450 million cedis to 1.2 billion cedis after embracing digital solutions. Similarly, the passport office witnessed a remarkable increase in revenue, soaring from 1 million cedis to 65 million cedis. Dr. Bawumia emphasized that this transformation demonstrates how digitization has curbed corruption and boosted revenue generation.

Speaking at the National Development Conference with the theme “Moral Vision and National Development,” Dr. Bawumia praised the success of Ghana’s digitization drive, which has significantly improved the efficiency of state agencies like ECG and the passport office.

Former Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and John Dramani Mahama also addressed the conference, emphasizing the importance of preserving African values and morality in Ghanaian society. They urged a return to traditional values and ethics to build a more responsible and prosperous nation.

Additionally, Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo stressed the need for justice to prevail in all aspects of Ghanaian life to ensure peaceful coexistence among people from diverse backgrounds.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Church of Pentecost Apostle Eric Nyamekye called for strong anti-corruption laws and emphasized the significance of developing a national character based on values and competence.
