Preserving a nation’s cultural heritage is an integral part of every nations agenda and has gradually become a priority for most organizations and individuals within it.
With the aim of Museums existence,permanent resident are provided to house a collection of artifact, research, sculpture and intangible intellectuals that are of national treasure. Museums which are also a great source of education material to the people also generate tourist attraction and can be a great source business.
A local museum in western the region, which had to shut down temporarily due to the COVID-19 pandemic reports back in business. The Museum , Bisa Abrewa which has been in existence for a little over two years has a goal of preserving the African culture with cultural artifacts all accross the continent dating back to over a century.
Speaking to the tour guide Mathew Sabah he narrates that Bisa Abrewa is a name derived from the narrative that our grandmothers are the custodian of our culture and responsible for inculcating core values in the children of the land. Mathew Sabah says the pandemic put a heavy weight on the business however the
business is gradually picking up after the weight of the pandemic died down.
He adds that the Museum make makes money predominantly by auctioning artefacts online and also through tickets sales on opening days.
