Public Encouraged To Consume Millet Products

Research has shown that millet is a good source of protein, fiber, vitamins, and minerals compared to other grains such as rice and maize.

Its health benefits are enormous and Ghanaians have therefore been urged to consume this cereal.

The grain is mostly cultivated in the Northern part of Ghana.

Chairman of the Agribusiness Sector of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) William Agyei Manu mentioned the type of millet and added that the crop is good in the regulation of high sugar levels.

” Millet contains high starch levels. It also contains vitamin B, calcium, iron, potassium, zinc, magnesium, antioxidants. It also controls blood sugar levels and lower cholesterol levels,” He said.

Millet is one of the oldest cultivated grains in the world and has been grown throughout Africa and Southeast Asia for thousands of years. Millet can be used to make bread, beer, cereal, and other dishes. Even today, millet is a staple food around the world.
