The Sekondi-Takoradi chapter of the Construction Sector Transparency Initiative (CoST) has held its 51st board meeting session at the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) with the theme “Enhancing Infrastructure Transparency Through the CoST Approach: Achievements and Lessons From Sekondi-Takoradi and Across the Globe.”.
Hon. Abdul-Mumin Issah Metro Chief Executive, STMA, speaking during the meeting, said the decision to partner with CoST was borne out of the desire to consolidate the open government gains by adopting proven tools and standards that promote transparency, accountability, and constructive engagement in the delivery of publicly funded infrastructure.
He said at the STMA that the tenets of CoST would help to achieve their vision of delivering quality infrastructure that betters the lives of citizens and promotes open and competitive procurement practices.
Mr. Mumin added that in this regard, the Assembly, with support from the EU-funded Twin Cities in Sustainable Partnership Project (TCSPP), is developing an electronic portal dubbed “e-Government Platform” to modernize the operations of the Assembly.
The electronic platform would serve as a “one-stop-shop” for service delivery, access to information, and inclusive decision-making.
Construction Sector Transparency Initiative CoST is a UK-registered charity working worldwide in 20 countries, including Ghana, in 8 MMDAs in the Western Region led by the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly to implement transparency and accountability reform within the infrastructure sector.
