FDA Collaborates With Effia Nkwanta Hospital To Undertake Blood Donation Exercise

In a move to stock, the blood bank of the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital, the Food and Drugs Authority, FDA in the Western Region are set to embark on a blood donation exercise for students of the St. Mary’s Boys SHS and Methodist Senior High School in Sekondi-Takoradi.

The exercise is in collaboration with the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital to contribute to the blood supply at the health facility.

The exercise is part of the Authority’s Corporate Social Responsibility to save lives and encourage a healthy lifestyle.

The Public Relations Officer of the FDA, Mr Solomon Bonney gave details of the exercise, and said, “It has become needful for the Authority to help make sure there is enough blood for patients who may need blood transfusion when accessing healthcare.”

Blood donor Organiser, of the Hospital, Simon Boateng touched on the importance of donating blood for the delivery of health care.

He said that smaller hospitals rely on Effia Nkwanta for blood supply, hence the decision to collaborate with the FDA to organise the exercise.
