Ghana gov’t supports $200 million tourist project at Asante Mampong

A registered Ghana-based tourism organisation named Oheneba Tourist Center has been officially mandated by government and traditional authorities of Asante Mampong to commence a project that seeks to convert the area into a national tourist park to help boost the level of arts and tourism in the country.

The organisation as part of the project will be constructing an ultra modern and incredible canopy walkways also known as treetop walks throughout giant plant species located within the jungle forest of the scarp.

Aside the treetop walkways, other tourist facilities of international standard including an artificial lake, a recreational park, hotel complex, a fuel filling station, restaurants, an art centre among other attractive eco-friendly facilities that can offer relation, refreshment and enjoyment to tourists will be constructed within the scarp.

Another titillating content is the construction of miniature wooden houses within the branches of giant tree species to serve as a resting place for tourists.

The zoological content of the project also aims at creating an area within the scarp where wildlife animals will be confined for sight seeing by tourists as a way of adding more colour to the beauty of the project.

The canopy walkways as explained to this medium is a prototype of a glass and metallic bridge unlike those of the famous tourist sites in Ghana and Africa and will stretched across the over 300 acres of forest land within the scarp.

Speaking exclusively to the brain behind the project Mr. Eric Ohene Dwumfour- CEO for Oheneba Tourist Centre, the project will cost close to $200 million and will absorb over 500 Ghanaians for employment.

The content of the project when completed and utilized according to the CEO will be an important growth driver for the country, its economy and also for its social progress.

He explained that the uniqueness of the project will attract an international attention and will in turn bring numerous economic value & benefits and help build Ghana’s brand value , image and identity
