W/R: NPP Chairman Poised To Reclaim Lost Seat In The Next Elections

The Western Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Francis Ndede Siah has associated the Party’s loss of seats in the 2020 general elections with several factors.

He said the party lost four seats based on internal and external factors.

According to him, the conflict between the Member of Parliament (MP), Party Executives and Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) accounted for the loss of a seat in the Evalue- Jomoro- Gwira Constituency.

He explained in an interview with Spice 91.9FM, that the party lost its seats two years ahead of the elections due to unresolved conflicts between party members.

For him, the Party’s mismanagement of the anti galamasey policy was also a  major factor which led to the loss of seats in the Amenfi West, Amenfi East and Amenfi Central Constituency as well as Prestea- Huni Valley.

Mr Ndede Siah retorted that , operations of the ‘Galamstop’ at the these galamsey sites two weeks to the elections led to the party loosing some seats to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Chairman Ndede Siah, nonetheless said, with good strategies the party can reclaim the lost seats in the 2024 elections.

In 2019, the Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation has set up a Galamstop task force to support the Operation Vanguard team in fighting illegal mining.
