Scores of People in Sekondi-Takoradi share their Preparedness towards the Yuletide

Christmas, a Christian holiday honouring the birth of Jesus Christ, has evolved into a worldwide religious and secular celebration, incorporating many pre-Christian and pagan traditions into the festivities.

The holidays begin with preparations such as sewing new outfits and stocking the home with confectionaries to welcome the occasion.

In the Western Region, specifically, Sekondi-Takoradi there are a couple of activities that go on to mark the birth of Christ. Such activities amongst others are the masquerade parade through the principal streets, where various masquerade groups display their dancing skills and art.

This event attracts people from far and near to watch the colourful display of the masqueraders.

In line with this, a cross-section of the public shared with Spice News Team on their preparedness towards this great day.

Some people bemoaned how the economy has had an adverse effect on their monetary gains and compelled them to have their plans altered, citing that there was no money in the system, thereby compelling them to have a change in plans towards the occasion.

For some of these people, they prefer not to celebrate the day in Takoradi but travel to their home town to commiserate with loved ones at home.

They also decried how prices of goods have deflated over a period of time, making them expensive to purchase.

The News Team noted that the majority of the public had their preparedness below five, on a scale of one to ten.
