NATIONAL CROSS COUNTRY SLATED FOR 21st JANUARY, 2022

As part of preparations towards the National Cross Country which has been slated for Akim-Oda from 17th and 19th February, 2022 in the Eastern Region, the Directorate of Regional Sports Authority will host the Regional Cross Country as detailed below:

DATE: 21ST and 22ND JANUARY, 2022 at SEKONDI SPORTS STADIUM dubbed: “RUNNING TOWARDS 2023 AFRICA GAMES”, All the 14 Districts / Municipalities in the Region are expected to present Twelve (12) athletes each (6 mates and 6 females) to participate in the event.

The 2022 Inter-Districts Cross Country has a dual objective of qualifying athletes at the Regional level to represent the region at the National Cross Country as well as participation in the Ghana Games which will serve as the biggest platform for selection of athletes into the national teams to represent the country in the 2023 Africa Games to be hosted by Ghana.

At the end of the Inter-Districts Cross Country, the best athletes, Six (6) males and Six (6) females would be selected for a month’s camping to represent the region at the National Cross Country in the Eastern Region.

Meanwhile, opportunity will also be given to individual athletes in the region who could not get selection at the District to run on non-scoring basis in the region to justify their inclusion in the Regional Team and thus qualify for some prize awards. Such individuals, must register with the Authority at a fee of Twenty Ghana Cedis (GH¢20.00),

The Estimated Budget for the organization of the event amounts to Forty-Six Thousand, Three Hundred and Seventy-Five Ghana Cedis (GH046,375.00).
