Rashid Dauda, the Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Asawase Constituency, has been granted bail following police questioning regarding his alleged assault on the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Asokore Mampong, Kennedy Kankam.

The altercation between Mr. Dauda and the MCE occurred during a confrontation in the MCE’s office where constituency executives demanded funds for supporting the recent Limited Voter Registration exercise.

Although the incident was reported several weeks ago, Mr. Dauda was only summoned for questioning by the Asokore Mampong police on Tuesday.

After providing his statement, he was released on bail while the police investigation continues.

Noah Owusu, the First Vice Chairman of the NPP in the Asawase Constituency, refuted claims that Mr. Dauda physically assaulted the MCE during their disagreement.

He expressed concern about the tension this situation is causing within the NPP in the constituency.
