Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, the former Minister of Trade and Industry, has expressed his intention to conduct a comprehensive review of the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy if he is elected President in the 2024 elections.

During an interview, Mr. Kyerematen commended the government’s efforts to enhance education accessibility through the Free SHS policy but emphasized the importance of conducting a review after seven years of implementation.

“I will review Free SHS, we have done it for seven years, You cannot implement a programme for seven and not review it, so when I come there will be a comprehensive review of the free SHS. The original idea is good and I commend Akufo-Addo for it, but it has to be reviewed,” Mr. Kyerematen stated.

He also emphasized that his government’s focus would not only be on ensuring access to education but also on maintaining and enhancing the quality of education provided to students.

Mr. Kyerematen outlined his plans, which included increased investments in infrastructure, teacher training, and curriculum development.

He stressed the importance of creating a well-rounded education system that prepares students to face both academic and practical challenges.
