Finance Ministry Halts Financial Clearance For Post Retirement Contract Appointment

The Ministry of Finance has resolved the issue with the retiring officers’ Post Retirement contract.

The government has, with immediate effect, suspended the granting of authorisation for Post-Retirement Contract Appointment, according to a statement issued by the Deputy Minister of Finance, Abena Osei Asare.

According to the statement, such a request can only be granted when the retiring officer’s talents are urgently needed and in limited supply.

Over the weekend, teacher unions objected to the extension given to the Deputy Director General of Education and other directors who should be retiring but are still working in the field of education.

According to the statement, such a request can only be granted when the retiring officer’s talents are desperately needed and in limited supply.

The statement, dated August 5, 2022, and received by the Ministry of Education on August 19, 2022, refers to the 2022 Budget and Economic Policy and declares that the government has suspended, with immediate effect, the granting of approval for the Post-retirement Contract Appointments.

The Ministry of Finance would not be able to provide financial clearance for post-retirement contract appointments, according to the statement that was forwarded to all Chief Directors, Ministries, departments, and agencies.
