The Majority Chief Whip in Parliament, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has stated that around 95 percent of New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members of Parliament have expressed their support for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the upcoming Presidential election.

The election is scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 4, 2023, with participation by over 200,000 delegates from across the country.

While expressing his optimism about Dr. Bawumia’s victory as the NPP’s flagbearer, Annoh-Dompreh noted that the support for the Vice President has increased to approximately 95 percent among MPs.

He believes the unity and support for Dr. Bawumia will continue to grow, with a focus on presenting a united front after the election.

The NPP’s presidential primaries are rapidly approaching, and the four aspirants competing for the flagbearer position have committed not to resign from the party if they do not win.

Dr. Bawumia is seen as the frontrunner but faces strong competition from Kennedy Agyapong and two other candidates.

A recent poll suggests that Dr. Bawumia is likely to secure an overwhelming victory in eight regions, with 71.1% of NPP delegates believing he has a better chance of breaking the eight-year cycle.

Kennedy Agyapong is seen as the closest competitor, according to the poll.
