Spice Fm 91.9 MHz and Beach Fm 105.5 MHz in Takoradi and both members of the Focus 1 Media Group have held this year’s “Easter Love Basket” to support and show love to the needy in deprived communities within their catchment areas in the Western Region.

The beneficiary communities were Yabiw, Kukunase, Brehabesoe, Abakem, Bethlehem, Payin, Kakra, Krase and Ngyresia in both the Shama District and the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis.

Beneficiaries, mainly the needy, widows and widowers numbering over hundred (100) received a basket containing assorted items worth Two-Hundred Cedis (GHc 200) each.

The items contained in each basket include a 5Kg bag of rice, cooking oil, tomato pastes, soft drinks, spaghetti, sardines and other groceries.

Nana Kwamena Weinu II, Chief of Yabiw and Acting President of the Shama Traditional Council who received the Focus 1 team into the community was thankful to the Management and staff of the company for their kind gesture and prayed for the success of the company.

He pointed out that it was the first time the community was witnessing such a gesture from a media organization in the region.

“This is the first time I have seen any organization come here to donate, I pray for God’s blessing for you to get more adverts to enable your stations to thrive, because the more you get adverts, the better your chances of repeating similar gestures elsewhere”, he emphasized.

Mr Fuseini Acquah, Assemblyman for the Ngyresia Electoral Area and Madam Adjoa Broni, a Unit Committee member who assisted the team in distributing the items also thanked the Focus 1 Media Group for the donation.

Maame Ama Abokuma, one of the beneficiaries who could not hide her feelings of joy showered praises on the Company and all those who contributed towards the success of the project for considering the plight of the needy on such occasions and putting smiles on the faces of the needy, especially widows.

Miss Adjoa Nyamewaa, a member of the “Easter Love Basket” Committee explained that the project was to give out hundred baskets of food items to hundred families in deprived communities to show love, put smiles on their faces, restore hope and feed these families.

She mentioned that the gesture was motivated by the Word of God which enjoins us to help the weak as it was more blessing to give than to receive and commended the listeners of the stations for their support to the project.
