Abronye granted GHC100k bail after pleading not guilty to 2 charges

The Bono Regional New Patriotic Party Regional Chairman Kwame Baffoe populary known as Abronye DC has been granted bail in the sum of GHc100, 000 with two sureties.

This comes after he pleaded not guilty to two charges of Publication of false news to cause fear and alarm and offensive conduct Conducive to the breach of the peace.

Mr Baffoe was detained by the Police on Tuesday evening after he accused former President John Mahama of planning to stage a coup in the country.

The Police said his claims are untrue.

Meanwhile, the two sureties are to deposit their passports and valid ID to the registrar of the court.

The prosecution, the court said, are to file disclosures and witness statements within two weeks.

The court presided over by Her Honour Adelaide Abui Keddy has adjourned the case to March 9, 2022 for Case Management Conference.

Abronye DC’s claims

Mr. Baffoe is alleged to have said that Mr. Mahama had met with Al-Qaeda militants to engage them on how to topple the ruling government.

He claimed that Mr. Mahama approached the group in a bid to help him become president again.

The NPP communicator made these assertions on Hot 93.9 FM in Accra, while responding to the arrest of #FixTheCountry convener, Oliver Mawuse Barker-Vormawor.
