WR Minister’s driver denies bolting with GHS17 million Galamsey money

The chauffeur of the Western Regional Minister, Mr Francis Akoto has denied allegations that he bolted with GHS17 million galamsey proceeds belonging to his boss.

This comes after Accra-based Star FM published a story dated October 19, 2022, with the headline “A Regional Minister collapses as his driver bolts with 17 million galamsey proceeds, driver is reported to be in Ivory Coast at the moment.“

After the publication of the story, the Regional Minister of the Western Region, Dr Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah was tagged to be the victim of the said theft.

However, Mr Akoto speaking on the Sunset Beach a Drive time show on beach 105.5fm with Host Yao Mawutor Fianu revealed that he has been driving the minister for the past two years now and believes the allegation are cooked up to tarnish the minister’s image.

He also revealed that the minister has three drivers including him and they are all currently in Takoradi working for the minister at the moment.
