Western Regional Traditional Leaders Urged To Fight For Developmental Projects Instead Of Chieftaincy Disputes

Traditional Leaders

The Paramount Chief of Lower Axim Traditional Council in the Nzema East Municipality of the Western Region, Awulae Attibrukusu III has called on traditional rulers in the Axim traditional council to fight for development and eradication of poverty instead of embarking on unnecessary litigation over issues relating to land disputes with their subjects’ rights and title deeds.

According to him, disputes in the Nzema traditional council should be managed carefully and decisively to give peace a chance to reign for progress and development.

“We will therefore prefer to use our time and resources to fight for developmental projects in our traditional area like renovating the Axim District Hospital. This hospital doesn’t serve the people of Lower and Upper Axim Traditional Council but the people of Nzema East which includes the whole Nsein Traditional Area.,

It is high time traditional leaders of whatever status in any part of the country fully assume the responsibility to embrace the privileges it comes with ” He said.

He mentioned that every Chief would be held accountable for improving the quality of developmental projects in his jurisdiction at the end of their tenure.

He further called on the relevant authorities to intervene as disputes are hampering peace and security.
