Opinion leaders and the electorates in the Kwesimintsim Constituency in the Western Region have expressed great worry about the behaviour of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate (PC), Dr. Prince Hamid Armah for always dishonoring calls to meet with him.
According to them, Dr. Armah has considerably taken them for a ride for far too long thinking that he will get them when he needs them but when they need him he will determine whether to honor it or not.
The opinion leaders and the electorates expressed their grievances at a public debate held by the Takoradi Catholic Diocese in collaboration with the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) to engage the three parliamentary aspirants on their development vision for the area.
“They feed on our love for party and political biases and get their way through and after that dumps us or leave us to our fate. Sometimes, they change their contacts just to stay away from us”, they alleged.
Against this backdrop, they wished that the parliamentary candidate would lose the elections on December 7 to teach him a lesson that the electorates have the power to make or unmake him, hence the need to honor their invitations.
However, Dr. Armah and the PPP aspirant, Mr Samuel Antwi failed to come for the debate which was represented by all the chiefs and queens in the Traditional Area, opinion leaders, Assembly Members, religious leaders and the electorates.
Mr Kofi Occansey told Spice News that, “sometimes, it is a shear discrimination on whose invitation to honor, whose message to pay attention to, and where are their political affiliations? When indeed they are representing the constituents and not a section of them”.
Mr Samson Ackumey also bemoaned that, “sometimes too, it is pride or arrogance to embark on selective justice, as against when they are seeking power where they need you the most. Others too feel this way because of their location, especially when they know that they are in the domineering party”.
When contacted, Mr Moses Kojo Baffoe, Municipal Director for NCCE hinted that adequate official communication was made to all the three aspirants prior to the debate and so it was unfortunate that the two of them did not come.
