Use Appropriate Means To Register And Acquire Lands – Public Advised

Surveyor Isaac Kofi Arthur at the Lands Commission in the Western Region has urged residents of Sekondi/Takoradi to use the appropriate procedure to register and acquire their lands.

In an interview with Macall Mensah on Beach FM, Surveyor Arthur reveals that before an individual gets to acquire land, there should be a background check with the Commission on whether the land has been sold out or not.

“If you want to acquire land, first you do a search from Lands Commission to know whether someone has registered that same parcel of land that you are yet to purchase before you can go ahead with any transaction with the one you are buying the land to you,” He said.

Mr. Mensah was speaking on the processes involved in land registration in the Metropolis.

According to him, one must establish checks at the Lands Commission to be sure if the said land has not been sold out already to avoid land disputes.

He further explained that a person can proceed with transactions with the landowners after the Commission has reviewed all the necessary details required for land acquisition.

Mr. Arthur noted that land documents submitted to the Commission are thoroughly examined, hence the delay for people to get their documents.

He,therefore, warned public to be wary of ‘goro boys’ who promise to facilitate the processes of land registration and acquisition and advised that individuals endeavor to deal with only Land Commission staff.
