Tuesday’s Fire Outbreak kills 4 members of a family in Effiakuma
On Tuesday, February 1, a fire outbreak which occurred at Effiakuma, a suburb in the Effia Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly (EKMA) has claimed lives of 4 members of a family.
The incident is said to have occurred at about 3:00 PM when the fire engulfed the home of the family as the victims were all in the house.
From an eyewitness account, reaching out to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) was difficult at the early stages of the fire.
Neighbors were able to rescue a 64 year old male, one of the victims who was trapped in the building before the arrival of the Ghana National Fire Service.
However, three of the victims, all-female made up of a mother, daughter and granddaughter all perished in the fire.
The mother, who is the wife to the male rescued is reported to be in her 60’s, the daughter, 38 years old and the granddaughter, 6 years old.
The rescued male victim, who was sent to Effia-Nkwanta hospital died on Tuesday, February 2, due to the injuries sustained during the fire.
Further reports indicates that the GNFS is gathering facts to ascertain the cause of the fire.
