W/R :100 Youths To Receive Vocational And Entrepreneurial Training

About 100 young women within the Ellembele District and Nzema East Municipality in the Western Region are to receive entrepreneurial and skill training in the areas of beauty technology, makeup artistry, millinery, and accessories amongst others.

The training forms part of the Company’s Women Empowerment vocational and skills training which seeks to equip the women to be self-reliant and useful to their families.

The training would also see women establishing their shops after the six months training.

Speaking at the event, the District Chief Executive of Ellembele, Kwesi Bonzoh said, the training is a step in the right direction as some of the women are unemployed and rely on their partners who mostly engage in illegal mining activities.

He revealed that young men also would be roped into an alternative livelihood program that seeks to reduce illegal mining activities.

” These 100 young women come from 9 different communities and would be trained within the next 6 months. We believe that these women can be independent without depending on their partners for survival.

Most young men depend on illegal mining activities here in Ellemebele, and it is worrisome. We are planning on rolling out an alternative livelihood for young men which can help address unemployment and make galamsey unattractive to them,” He said.

Mr. Kwesi Bonzoh advised trainees to be serious and disciplined as they go into the training to become better persons.

” People tend not to value free things. This is a lot of investment the company has made. It can cost an individual as high as 5 Thousand Cedis to receive this training but no one paid a penny for this.

This is the first of its kind we have witnessed. We are empowering women, and we plead with them to take it seriously. If they can do so they pave a way for others to also enjoy such training in the future.

They can become better people if they are serious about this training,” Mr. Kwesi Bonzoh added.

The training is an initiative by Adamus Mining Resources Company in the Western Region.

In her speech, the Chief Executive Office of Adamus Resources Company, Mrs. Angela List, says, entrepreneurs, form the majority of the sphere of people across the globe because they can identify and capitalize on industry demand.

She, however, was optimistic that the investment in training will impact Ghana as well as Western Region.
