School Placement: No School in Western Region currently has 100% Enrollment

No School in Western Region

A Guidance and Counselling Coordinator of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has stated that no Senior High School has attained a full enrolment of first years in the ongoing school placement and enrolment in the region.

In an interview with Spice FM, Kofi Annan said enrolment into the SHS is still in progress and students should endeavour to report to their respective schools to get enrolled.

About 12,459 students have been placed in various Senior High, Technical and Vocational Schools in the Western Region, which are awaiting enrolment.

He mentioned that students who have been placed in a school should not be discouraged about the choice of school but accept enrolment to study hard and strive to become a better person in society.

He further added that all SHS have trained teachers who match up to the teaching task.

For her part, the Public Relations Officer at the Metropolitan Education Directorate, Charity Baah reiterated that there is a 30 per cent package for students who attended public schools. Such students who attained good grades in BECE are given a chance to be placed in a first-class school.

“The policy states that a 30 per cent of a declared number of placements should be given to the public schools that choose a first-class school. The rest of the number would compete between private and other students from the public school, she added.

Parents and guardians are, however, admonished to report any grievances to the Regional Education Directorate for redress.
