EKMA CLOSES SHOPS AT APRAMDO MARKET, SHOP OWNERS APPEAL FOR MORE TIME TO PAY RENTS.

The queen mother of Appramdu Market, Theresa Eshun, has appealed to the Effia Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly to give them more time for the payment of outstanding rents instead of closing their shops amid COVID-19 pandemic.

According to her, market women at the Apramdu market on a normal day continously record low sales due to ineffective nature of the market.

This burden has been compounded by the advent of COVID-19 which has substantially affected their daily sales.

Speaking on Spice Fm on Adekye Mu Nsem, the queen mother appealed to EKMA for more time to honour payment.

“Some of us could make 6gh in a day, sometimes you don’t even record sales at all, it is very tough in the Ampradu Market because those expected to come from Market Circle to increase our numbers are also not coming. We will pay our oustanding rents but we want the authorities to understand the impact of the COVID-19 on our activities to give us more time for payment.

The owners of the shops are expeceted to pay rent within the ranges of 20gh to 30gh monthly.
