Country Director Calls for Action Against Alcohol Abuse Among Youth

Ad Adams, the Country Director of the Stroke Association Support Network, has lamented the surge of alcohol abuse amongst the youth in recent times.
In an interview with Obeng Darko Ampemg on the Spice FM Morning Show, Mr. Adams touched on the consequences alcohol can have on an individual both physically and mentally.
He mentioned the decrease in the ability to pay attention, difficulties with memory, and engaging in risky behaviours such as unprotected sex or driving under the influence.
Mr. Adams, said, as part of marking the World Alcohol Day, his outfit has embarked on education to Junior, Senior and Tertiary institutions to sensitise students on the danger of consuming alcohol.
World Alcohol Day is commemorated to promote the benefits of an alcohol-free environment.
The day also highlights the outdated and harmful alcohol norms which are not good enough for people.
Mr. Adams called on the government to ensure strict enforcement of alcohol advertisements on traditional mediums and promote sanity in the country.
He observed that, per the statistics, one in three youth aged between 18 – 25 years develops non-communicable diseases, such as hypertension, obesity and the like.
