State resources must not be used to support galamsey operations — Tanko Computer cautions

The Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), Dr. Rashid Tanko Computer, has issued a strong warning that the current government will not tolerate the misuse of state resources for illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey.
“If the NDC is found using state resources to engage in galamsey, we will not overlook it,” he asserted.
Dr. Tanko emphasized the government’s ongoing efforts to address the galamsey crisis, noting that the President has empowered security agencies to take decisive action. He also praised the administration for dismantling illegal mining settlements and urged the opposition to apologize to Ghanaians for their role in the spread of galamsey during their time in office.
“In a short period, Omane Boamah has successfully dismantled several galamsey communities,” he emphasized.
During an interview on the GTV Breakfast Show, he also alleged that the former President acted as a spokesperson for Akonta Mining, a company reportedly linked to illegal mining activities.
Dr. Tanko further claimed that it was the previous administration that facilitated the entry of Chinese nationals involved in galamsey operations, contributing to the destruction of the environment.
