VRA To Leverage Creativity And Innovation To Become Leading Power Distributors

The Volta River Authority, VRA has reiterated that as part of its mandate, it is propping up to become the leader in power generation in West Africa.

VRA was the sole electricity producer until the coming of the stream of Independent Power Producers. IPPs and originally known for hydro. Its operations cover thermal and renewables.

It said it will leverage creativity and innovation to generate more electricity to meet increasing national demand as well as export.

Board Chairman of VRA, Kofi Tutu-Agyare charged workers to take advantage of present opportunities to generate more electricity for West Africa.

” Our strategic goal and what we are driving to is the execution of our strategy to increase the amount of energy we apply at a reasonable price.

There are extraordinary opportunities for us to be able to become a regional power hub and that is not solely ours but for everybody, and if we don’t get there first we’ve missed a huge opportunity,”

Chief Executive Officer, VRA Emmanuel Antwi Darkwa adds that the Authority has survived several challenges, and it’s time to adjust its operations to stay in business.

” The impact of this event on us has meant a readjustment of our strategy and our approach to our operations.

We’ve had to focus on agility, digitalization and multi-stakeholder collaborations. We have kept abreast with our challenges by sticking to our best strategy,” Mr Darkwa emphasised.
