World Chocolate Day: Put your sweet tooth into overdrive today

Chocolates are irresistible and occupy an important place in our lives. This sweet delight has remained everyone’s favourite since childhood. To celebrate its existence, World Chocolate Day is observed on July 7.

Chocolate, made from cocoa beans, has been able to retain its reputation of being the most celebrated and favorite dessert and treat for years.

It comes with its own set of health benefits such as lowering blood pressure and increasing blood circulation in the body.

Beach Newsroom took to the streets of Sekondi-Takoradi to enquire from the public whether they knew about the day as well as the last time, they consumed chocolate.

It was surprising as many of the people had no knowledge of the day.

Here are some of the responses from the public.

“I don’t know today is World Chocolate Day but the last time I ate chocolate was last February which is the Valentine’s Day. Chocolate is quite expensive and so I hardly eat one.”

“Honestly, I don’t really remember the last time I ate chocolate. People do give me chocolate once in a while but it is not a common thing. I eat as and when I receive.”

” The last time I ate chocolate was last year Val’s Day and I don’t know today is Chocolate Day. In this part of our world we don’t consider such things.”

” I would grab a bar of chocolate today as we mark Chocolate Day today because, it’s been a while I took one.”
