Amenfi Central: Joana Gyan Cudjoe re-elected as NDC parliamentary candidate

Joana Gyan Cudjoe, has been re-elected as the NDC Parliamentary Candidate for the Amenfi Central in the Western Region.

Joana Gyan Cudjoe, the wife of popular Ghanaian musician Keche Andrew, has been re-elected as the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for the Amenfi Central Constituency.

She secured the position by acclamation after her only contender, the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), Peter Yaw Kwakye Ackah, withdrew from the race.

Ackah’s decision to step down came after the vetting process on Saturday, effectively paving the way for Gyan Cudjoe’s unopposed candidacy. As a result, the NDC delegates in Amenfi Central gave their full endorsement through a formal acclamation process.

A total of 1,430 delegates were present at the event to witness and participate in the acclamation. Joana Gyan Cudjoe, who had previously contested and won the parliamentary primary in 2023, will now lead the NDC in the 2024 general elections for the Amenfi Central seat.

Her re-election is seen as a boost for the NDC’s chances in the constituency, as she remains a popular figure among supporters. Gyan Cudjoe, a businesswoman and philanthropist, is expected to continue her campaign with a focus on local development and social welfare programs.

The NDC leadership in the Western Region praised both candidates for their maturity and commitment to the party’s unity, noting that Mr Ackah’s decision to step aside would strengthen the party’s efforts to retain the seat in the upcoming elections.
