The Director-General of Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) , Dr John Ofori –Tenkorang has said that SSNIT Mobile Service is expected to begin the distribution of statements of account to customers with Valid e-mail addresses and Contact numbers on quarterly basis to enable easy and regular access to ones financial status as part of measures to empower stakeholders to enforce compliance and accountability.
Delivering a Key note address at the launch of the Western Regional 2020 SSNIT Mobile Service at the Takoradi Mall, under theme “Securing Your Retirement Your role as a stakeholder” Dr John Ofori – Tenkorang, emphasized on how the exercise will ensure accountability and proper tracking of retirement process.
“To all members of the Scheme, in the beginning of November , just as we did last year, we will distribute SSNIT statements of account to all members with valid E-mail addresses and phone numbers, going forward, to serve you better , we will be issuing these electronic statements on quarterly basis to our members with valid E-mail addresses. This makes will make us accountable an well as empower subscribers to track and take control their retirement planning process”
He urged customers to visit all mobile service points and branches across the country to updates their contact details to receive annual statement and other important information about the scheme
“On this note I urge you to visit any of our mobile service point or our branches or call our calls centers to upgrade your details, once this is done you can receive your annual statement about the SSNIT Scheme regularly”
The one Week SSNIT Mobile service clinic in the Western Region presents an invaluable opportunity to engage customers and resolve complaints, register new members and obtain feedback for policy formulation among other things.
Customers are also expected to submit their SSNIT cards or relevant I.Ds to participate in the exercise.
The exercise is currently taken place simultaneously in 58 different mobile locations across the length and breadth of the nation
About SSNIT
The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) is a statutory public Trust charged under the National Pensions Act, 2008 Act 766 with the administration of Ghana’s Basic National Social Security Scheme.
As the operator of the First Tier of the Three-Tier Pension Scheme, it replaces part of lost income of workers in Ghana due to Old Age, Invalidity or Death of a member where lump sum payment is made to dependants. It is also responsible for the payment of Emigration benefit to a non-Ghanaian member who is leaving Ghana permanently.
SSNIT has an active membership of over 1.6 million and currently, over GHS250 million is spent funding pension payments to the over 212,000 pensioners per month.
