Re-Development of Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital; Staff and Patients to Vacate Premises on 31st May
Staff and Patients occupying the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital are expected to vacate some designated facilities on 31st May 2022 to make way for the construction of the 300 to 500 bed facility and other special services facilities come June 2022.
However all other buildings serving as medical facilities are expected to be affected with exception of the Hospital Tower, Teacher’s building, Office/administration, Kitchen and laundry.
Dr. Joseph Kojo Tambil made this announcement during a media interaction yesterday at the hospital’s premises where he throwed more light on management’s preparation ahead of the project.
According to him, plans are far advanced for the contractor of the project to move to site and begin the project after a final meeting on the project drawings expected to be held on Thursday, 21/04/2022.
”Plans are far ahead for us to commence the project, we have been been given 31st May 2022 to vacate the premises for the project to start at June 2022. We are expected to meet and discuss the final drawing of the project so that works can start”
Some of the current facilities expected to be collapsed include, Accident and Emergency Center, Antenatal and Post Netal Clinic, Lab, Orthopedics, CT Scan Center, Children Ward A and C among others.

The medical director of the facility also added that Amandi Construction as official contractors of the project are also suppose to substitute containers to temporary replace some of the collapse structures to ensure that the construction does not interrupt with the facility’s core mandate or services it provides to the general public.
“It is part of the plan that Amandy Construction Limited will use containers to create offices and Hubs to temporary replace affected facilities”.
The President announced in the 2020 budget that the upgrade of Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital was part of government’s agenda 101 which seeks to make substantial investment in the country’s health sector to improve health delivery in the country.
