The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment, NaCCA, has warned of drastic measures against any publisher, bookshop and schools that are in possession of books that have not been approved by the agency.
The warning follows the circulation of a book titled “What is Happening to Me” by Usborne Books which has not been approved for use by schools and students.
A statement issued and signed by NaCCA’s Director-General, Dr Edward Appiah, said the publishers of the said book have not submitted it to Council for the necessary assessment and approval.
He said the NaCCA was embarking on random visits to pre-tertiary schools and bookshops to discourage the use of unapproved books.
“Drastic measures shall be taken against the publishers of books, bookshop, and schools that are in possession of books found not to have gone through the assessment process by NaCCA”, it said.
It called for cooperation from heads of schools, parents and guardians, bookshops and, indeed, the general public as it ensures “improvement in the delivery of quality education for learners”.
