Have A Plan, The VGMA Platform “Will Not Do All The Magic”- Charterhouse PRO
The 24th edition to the VGMA which will also feature the 10th edition of the Unsung Intiative has had quite some misconstrued concepts with regards to the winners of the unsung category.
From having to hear questions like “why dont we hear of the winners of the unsung category” to “will the unsung initiative bring the next big thing to the country”, the VGMA- Charterhouse PRO, Robert klah gave some unequivocal clarifications in reference to the Unsung Initiative.
Formally launched to give upcoming artists an opportunity to be in the spotlight and also to have their music careers advance by giving them the opportunity to perform at the VGMA’s biggest stage to be recognized nationwide and somewhat internationally, the Unsung Initiative ,according to Robert Klah, “does not work magic” with reagrds to taking you to the top right from giving a live performance on stage.
The Charterhouse PRO adviced that the artists must have a plan considering ghe fact that being the winner on the unsung categorty does not automatically take you to the top.
“Your plan must be two ways,as a winner and not as a winner which will either way give you some form of leverage to advance”, he said.
“Even if you don’t win, you have to use the platform to advance your career”, he added.
He further clarrified the connotion that unsung artists are never heard of after they win by giving reference to popular and respected artists in Ghana from the likes of Mzvee, Gyakie, Mr Drew, among others, who are now recognized from being a part of the Unsung Initiative.
Artists according to him who find themselves as winners of the unsung initiative must “understand that the platform in itself provides them some opportunity that they need to leverage off it”
“They just need to be able to understand how to use it”, he stated .
“Once youre able to make it unto that particular stage you need to make a plan to leverage off whatever experience that comes in that particular platform to advance your career”
The goal of the VGMA, according to the Charterhouse PRO is to “put the most deserving person on stage as demanded by the audience”
