A fire engulfed an eight-bedroom house near the Charleston Hotel in Tesano on Wednesday, October 25.
The fire ignited around 9:30 a.m., rapidly spreading throughout the house. The house help reported hearing an initial explosion but was unaware it was coming from the house until a larger explosion followed.
Fortunately, the occupants of the house escaped without injury, though their belongings were consumed by the fire.
Firefighters arrived at the scene approximately 30 minutes after the fire’s onset, but the house had already suffered significant damage.
Firefighters fought the blaze for several hours before successfully bringing it under control.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Tesano residents who witnessed the incident expressed shock and disbelief, with some remarking that it was the largest fire they had ever seen in the area.
