Interior Ministry sets August 1 deadline for registration of all mining equipment

The Ministry of the Interior has directed that all machinery used in mining operations across Ghana must be registered with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) by August 1, 2025.
In a statement signed by Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, the Ministry warned that any unregistered mining equipment found after the deadline will be seized by the State.
The Ghana Police Service and the DVLA have been instructed to strictly enforce the directive beginning August 2, 2025.
This directive forms part of the government’s broader reform agenda aimed at promoting accountability, improving regulation in the mining sector, and reinforcing law and order nationwide.
The Ministry has urged all individuals and companies engaged in mining activities to comply fully with the new requirement to avoid sanctions.
