Road contractors to receive payments this month – Mahama announces

The government will begin settling outstanding debts owed to road contractors this month, President John Dramani Mahama announced during a meeting with members of the Council of State at the Presidency on Monday.

President Mahama explained that the Ministry of Finance has allocated dedicated funds to cover a significant portion of the arrears, enabling contractors to return to their sites and resume stalled infrastructure projects.

“I’m confident that some of the contractors working on your projects will receive payment, allowing them to go back on site and continue their work,” he said.

He noted that the Finance Minister is giving priority to these payments as part of broader efforts to fast-track the completion of critical infrastructure and support the government’s ongoing economic recovery programme.

Further details, including the scale and scope of the payments, will be outlined in the upcoming mid-year budget review, which will assess the economy’s performance over the first half of the year.

President Mahama also assured the Council that, following the budget review, the government will re-engage with them to discuss its performance and progress over the past six months.
