The Chief Executive Officer of GoldBod, Sammy Gyamfi, has announced that President John Dramani Mahama will officially launch the GoldBod Task Force on July 8, 2025.
According to Mr. Gyamfi, the Task Force is being established to safeguard Ghana’s mineral resources and ensure the country reaps the full benefits of its gold industry.
Speaking to the media, he confirmed that the official inauguration will take place at the National Security Secretariat—commonly known as the Blue Gate—in Accra.
Mr. Gyamfi added that the Task Force will be granted full law enforcement powers, similar to those of police officers. Their primary mandate will include combating gold smuggling, curbing illegal gold trade, and addressing price manipulation in the sector.
“This special security team will work closely with an intelligence network that is already active across the country,” he explained. “Their job is to monitor and clamp down on unlawful gold trading activities.”
