Education sector gets major boost as government announces 60,000 new hires

Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu has announced that the government will hire 50,000 teachers this year as part of a major initiative to strengthen the education sector.
Addressing Parliament, Mr. Iddrisu also disclosed plans to recruit 10,000 non-teaching staff in 2025. He said the move is intended to enhance administrative and support services across schools nationwide.
The Minister noted that the recruitment process will commence once the Finance Minister grants financial clearance and the Auditor-General finalizes a payroll audit to remove ghost names.
He made this statement in response to an urgent question during a parliamentary session.
