Asante Kotoko part ways with Justice Blay, Frederick Asare & three other players

Ghanaian giants, Asante Kotoko have parted ways with five players including Justice Blay and goalkeeper Frederick Asare.
The Kumasi-based club’s decision marks a significant overhaul of the squad as they look to rebuild and improve their performance in the upcoming season.
Others in the list are Michael Kyei Dwamena, Wisdom Fernando Bassey and Simpson Eduku.
Asare and Blay’s departure comes as shocking considering the pivotal roles they have played in recent years. The duo were instrumental in Asante Kotoko’s FA Cup triumph in the just-ended league season.
For Kyei Dwamena, Fernando Bassey and Eduku, the trio have been axed from the club due to lack of regular playing time and uninspiring performances.
With Asante Kotoko restructuring squad for next season’s CAF Confederation Cup campaign, the departures will free up space in the squad and allow them to pursue new signings in the ongoing transfer window.
We understand the Ghana Premier League record holders are almost through with the signing of Berekum Chelsea duo of Hubert Gyau and Zakaria Fuseini to strengthen squad for next season’s campaign.
The coming weeks will be crucial as Asante Kotoko look to rebuild their squad and prepare for the Presidential Cup with bitterest rivals Hearts of Oak on July 6, 2025.
