OSP declares Former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta wanted again over refusal to appear in person

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has once again declared Ghana’s former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, a wanted individual after he failed to appear in person as directed.

At a press conference on Monday, June 2, 2025, Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng stated that Mr. Ofori-Atta has consistently delayed and refused to cooperate with ongoing criminal investigations. “We want him here physically. We have indulged him for long, and it ends here,” he said emphatically.

Mr. Ofori-Atta, who is reportedly undergoing medical treatment abroad, had requested to meet with the OSP virtually. In a letter dated May 28, 2025, his lawyers submitted medical documentation to justify the request, which was also filed with the Human Rights Court.

Despite this, the OSP insists that the former minister must appear in person to respond to serious allegations, including money laundering and causing financial loss to the state.

With this latest development, Mr. Ofori-Atta has been reinstated on the OSP’s wanted list. Officials have indicated that international measures could follow, including the potential issuance of an INTERPOL Red Notice.
