The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has referred President John Dramani Mahama’s seven Supreme Court nominees to the Appointments Committee of Parliament.
The Committee is tasked with vetting the nominees and submitting its report to the House for approval or otherwise.
The nominees are: Justice Sir Dennis Dominic Adjei, Justice Gbiel Simon Suurbaareh, Justice Senyo Dzamefe, Justice Kweku Tawiah Ackaah-Boafo, Justice Philip Bright Mensah, Justice Janapare Bartels-Kodwo, and Justice Hafisata Amaleboba.
President Mahama nominated the seven Court of Appeal Justices in April this year for possible elevation to the Supreme Court.
The nominations were made in accordance with Article 144(2) of the 1992 Constitution and are subject to approval by Parliament.
