Police apprehend 17 in Samreboi during anti-galamsey crackdown

The Special Police Anti-Galamsey Taskforce from the National Police Headquarters has apprehended seventeen (17) individuals linked to illegal mining activities in Samreboi, located in the Western Region.
The group includes seven (7) Chinese nationals and ten (10) Ghanaians, who were arrested on 25th May 2025 during ongoing anti-galamsey operations in the area.
All seventeen (17) suspects have been transferred to Accra to aid in further investigations.
Meanwhile, the anti-galamsey taskforce is ramping up operations in the affected communities, with a focus on identifying more individuals of interest and safeguarding the impacted forest reserves.
The Ghana Police Service remains firmly committed to supporting the national fight against illegal mining.
